ACTIVITY 1

Read from the whiteboard the Fearsome Facts – Soft Drinks Poster 1-3rotta
Introduce the 4th poster and discuss.
Revise as a whole group. Ask the students the following questions:

Who should know this information?

How are we going to let them know?

Write ideas on the board.
Ask the students to choose a poster (Poster 1, 2, 3 or 4) to redesign to make an impact on their target audience.

e.g. If for younger students then they could draw teeth and rot eating at the teeth and “rottas” in a drink bottle of soft drink.
Write key information or words underneath the pictures.

e.g. If it is for older people they could draw teeth falling out or people in pain with tooth ache.
If the students have thought of very creative ways to get the message out, the teacher may choose to put aside another lesson to follow through on their ideas.

ACTIVITY 2

Read through and learn the song, “Oh Say No to Soft Drink”

Present at assembly or a parent information night.

Oh Say No to Soft Drink

Say no to soft drink and sugary drinks too
Make the decisions that are right for you

Oh…say no to soft drink
Oh…say no to sports drinks
Oh…drink lots of water
That’s what I want to see

H2O has a positive force
It feeds your body and brain of course

Oh…say no to soft drink
Oh…say no to sports drinks
Oh…drink lots of water
That’s what I want to see

Turn your mind around and work it out
You’re the most important so give a shout

Oh…say no to soft drink
Oh… say no to sports drinks
Oh…drink lots of water
That’s what I want to see
(Cover mouth OR hands out wide with a big smile to finish to show the beautiful, clean teeth)
